We last went out to the East
Coast in 2005 in a minivan when the boys were young. With a couple of Scooby-doo
videos to keep them entertained on the longer trips they were great! We loved
the 2 ½ week trip and wanted to go back again but now that the boys are older
we couldn’t see ourselves driving the SUV out east without regretting the back
seat shenanigans.
Nancy spent many summers in
a camper and my family had always traveled throughout the US and Canada in the summer so we suggested renting an RV which would give us more room for the
family to spread out without feeling cramped or crowded while travelling and it
would be more convenient and comfortable then a hotel. We also wanted to shake things up and get the
boys off the video couch and add an element of adventure to their lives.
Trigger real conversations and create lifelong moments and memories.
We attended the Toronto
RV show in early February to look at the type of RV we wanted to rent and to
visit the many rental RV dealers in the area at the show. We were amazed at how
nice an RV really is. So many great models to choose. We decided we wanted a
newer 26ft slideout model. We ended up going with Owasco RV rental in Whitby. Renting a Jayco Redhawk 26XD.

We planned to stay at national
and provincial parks and spend more time outdoors enjoying nature by day and
campfires by night. We planned out our route using Microsoft OneNote and booked our parks stays on line
in advance but wanted flexibility and freedom to stop and take in the country’s
beauty when we wanted to. We planned to drive 6-7 hours on the front and back
end of the trip but trying to stay 2 nights at most of the parks and keep most
of the travel days around 4 hours.
